For
those arriving on Krk by land, this is the first town on the
island. Omišalj is with town Krk oldest settlement on
the island, it is situated on the clif 90 m. above the sea.
City has been inhabited since ancient times, the Romans founded
a large town called Fulfinum. Omisalj was of great strategic
importance and during the fifteenth century it was fortified,
old Tower still stands. There are many churches in the city,
most famous are: Benedictine Abbey of Saint Nicholas and the
Parish Church.
